OPACUM LAND TRUST WALK AT MASHAPAUG WOODS
Saturday May 18, 2019 9:00  11:00 am
An RSVP is required see info below

Please join bird expert Bill Cormier of the Bird Store and More (Sturbridge, thebirdstoreandmore.com), and Opacum Land Trust, for a birding tour of a property that Opacum is in the process of purchasing for conservation. Be among the first people to visit Mashapaug Woods in Union Connecticut, soon to become a public conservation property owned by Opacum Land Trust.   Mashapaug Woods consists of 134 acres of forested land and 1 ¼ miles of the shoreline of Mashapaug Lake in Union, Connecticut, just over the state line from Massachusetts and only a short drive from Sturbridge and other nearby towns.   It will be a beautiful and ecologically important addition to our region’s protected open space and the refuge for wildlife in perpetuity.

Although birding is best done around dawn, we will still encounter and hear many species of birds at this time of year, and our expert Bill Cormier will help you identify the many forest dwelling bird species of our area.

An RSVP is required and needed to provide directions to the program. All participants must sign a liability waiver as the property is still private and we are accessing it with the owner’s permission.

To RSVP, please email amy.connery@opacumlt.org or leave a voice mail at 508-347-9144, leaving the names of all who will attend and how we can contact you. Directions to the property will be provided to your contact information.
